A Full-Circle Moment at Homestead Senior High School Sometimes, you have to go back to where you started to realize how far you've come.
Alexander Contreras, President and Founder of PetTrio Charity, recently returned to his hometown high school, Homestead Senior High School, as Principal for the Day. At 40 years old, Contreras walked the same halls he once walked as a 17-year-old student—but this time, he returned as a community leader focused on creating opportunities for the next generation. During his day at the school, Contreras visited the Veterinary Technology, Computer Gaming, Dance, Culinary Arts, and Drama programs, meeting students and seeing firsthand the incredible opportunities being created for them.
The experience gave him a chance to reflect on his own journey—from a teenager uncertain about his future to an entrepreneur, advocate, and founder working to strengthen opportunities for young people and the veterinary community. For PetTrio Charity, that mission is personal.
The future is already sitting in our classrooms. Through initiatives like VetTrackEDU, PetTrio Charity is working to connect students with schools, professionals, and real-world experiences that can help turn education into opportunity. Returning to Homestead Senior High wasn't just a look back for Contreras.
It was a reminder of why we must keep looking forward—and keep investing in the next generation. Sometimes, the best way to measure how far you've come is to go back to where it all began.
