Alexandre Contreras developed a love for animals at a very early age. As young as age 10, Alex would watch Emergency Vets on Animal Planet with his grandfather. In those moments, he was inspired, and his love and passion for all animals led Alex to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Now, Alex has a decade plus of experience, earning his veterinary assistant degree from Penn Foster College and becoming a certified canine massage therapist and dental technician.
Alex’s deep desire to provide quality healthcare to animals, coupled with persistence and entrepreneurial spirit, led him to continuously pursue additional training and hands-on experience. He also invented and patented an innovative nail trimmer, KlipTrio, a 3-in-1 nail-trimming tool that combines a clipper, stainless steel file, and the first-ever disposable styptic powder cartridges. Alex’s KlipTrio design effectively solves a problem that affects veterinary care across the country each day, which is a major, meaningful contribution to veterinary medicine that eliminates the need to struggle with a messy bottle of styptic powder while the bleeding pet is stressed and irritated.
Alex’s awards include:
- 2022 Veterinary Paraprofessional winner for the 2022 DVM360® Veterinary Heroes™ Awards
- 2022 Bridge Club Bright Minds 2022 winner
- 2024 Chewy Health & DVM360® Innovator of the Month (October)
